The church where the harpos have been members for years even teaches that sophie is a messianic figure, this doubly convenient for the family who use the church as a front. the feds have been watching the harpos for years, but finally tried to make a move. Figuring Sophie was the inspirational linchpin for the notoriously elusive harpo family, the feds cooked up charges to take custody of sophie, hoping the seperation of mother and daughter could begin the toppling of the Harpo Dynasty. The plan failed, ever the strategist Doris Harpo lead a clever community campaign to regain custody of sophie.
